INFO

destiempo films is an independent film production company established in 2012 by Mexican photographer and filmmaker Mauricio Guillén.

In the early 90´s, while still a student in the class of filmmaker Ross McLaren at the Cooper Union School of Art in NYC, Mauricio Guillen's images start regularly appearing on the pages of European youth culture magazines Purple Prose, Dazed & Confused, ID, and Sleazenation. After obtaining his degree, Guillén relocates to London England where, joining the agency MAP, he goes on to produce a number of groundbreaking campaigns for Sony's ever first digital camera, and SNCF Transilien, where casting minorities from the suburbs instead of models, the project went on to win the best european campaign of the year. In 1999 Guillén does his first solo exhibition Estimado Espectador at the artist run space La Panadería in Mexico City. With the help of a scholarship, he then decides to stop all commercial activities leaving MAP to join the Photography department at the Royal College of Art in London. In 2012, on the occasion of his solo exhibition at the Museum für Moderne Kunst in Frankfurt am Main, Guillén produces the 16mm film Avenida Progreso. The film is well received and will be screened extensively at international film festivals and museums alike, establishing Guillén as an accomplished filmmaker. Since, Guillén has produced three more films: Saint Paul, Beide Seinten des Mains, and Paris Was Not You. His work is in the collection of Albertina Museum Wien, British Arts Council, Fundación Jumex Mexico, FRAC Alsace France, Fomação Iberë Camargo Brazil, LACMA Los Angeles California, MMK Museum für Moderne Kunst Frankfurt am Main, , MACBA Barcelona Spain, Tokyo Photographic Art Museum, and the Zabludowicz collection United Kingdom.
